Extra Equipment Carried for Off Road Adventures
On your journeys you may find the needs for the following extra equipment to be carried with you in you’re off road adventures. I would say that the C.B. Radio and a good Sat Nav is a must as well as a good jack.
Hi-Lift Jack is a rugged jack which is very versatile for lifting, winching, pushing, clamping and pulling. Always carry a block of wood or something that you can set your jack on to prevent sinking into the ground you are on.
You cannot use them as they stand on Land Rover Discovery’s, Range Rovers or Freelanders as there are no jacking points for a Hi-lift Jack. You would have to change the bumpers or bulbar to steel and have jack points put on them. There are adaptors you can get for Land Rovers. Hi-Lift Jack can be a very dangerous Tool if not used properly Think safety at all times.
Air Jack Bag may be more practical for the Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover and Freelander. I have not personally tried one but I am considering purchasing one. You place the air bag where you need to lift the vehicle and connect the hose to you exhaust tail pipe.

How I got involved
I have always wanted a Land Rover Discovery 2 300 TDI; however I thought that they were very expensive and always decided against it.
It was the early death at the end of 1996 of a work colleague who was due for retirement that propelled me to go for one. Life is too short.
My Land Rovers
Therefore in February 1997 I decided on a Discovery 2, 300TDI 1995 model. At this stage I had no intentions of going on any rugged off road adventures in my 4×4.
